Checkout > Configuration > Global Shipping Configuration

1. Calculate Shipping

This is set to “No” by default. If this option is set to “Yes” the plugin navigates the customer through the shipping step so that a delivery cost can be calculated and chosen accordingly. The shipping step is only seen if there is at least one tangible item in the cart at the time of checkout.

NOTE: Ensure that ‘Capture Shipping Details‘ is turned on under ‘User Related Settings‘ for shipping to work.

2. Weight Measurement

This is a drop down list. You can select  - lb (Pound), oz (Ounce), kg (Kilogram) or g (Gram). This is the global weight measurement for all products on the site.

3. Shipping Methods Display

Here you can choose whether you you would like your shipping methods do be displayed in a “dropdown menu” or as “radio buttons” (which ever fits your needs the best). If you have many shipping methods then a drop-down is probably the better option.

4. Shipping Charge Type

The default is “Fixed Price“. The alternative is “Price Tiers“. Choosing pricing tiers expands additional fields so that you can configure the tiers accordingly.

5. Tiers Type Based on

There are three Tier types based on: Quantity/Units, Order Total and Total Weight. The Default is Based on Order Total. This affects how the shipping tiers are calculated.

Quantity/Units: This means that shipping tiers will be calculated based on the amount of items that are in the cart at the time of checkout

Order Total: This will calculate the shipping price based on the total price value of all the items in the cart at the time of checkout.

Total Weight: This will calculate the shipping price based on the total weight of all the items in the cart at the time of checkout.

6. Shipping Tiers

This allows you to select the default shipping method for immediate calculation. Use the radio buttons next to the shipping methods to choose a default shipping method.  If no shipping methods have been created you will see a message in red “No shipping methods are available.” Go and add one to continue.

For each shipping method you have available you have created that does not use an API you will see it listed here. This is along with 2 field for the tier restrictions as well as a field to set the price for each shipping method within the tier restriction.

See the above screenshot for example. I have based the tier calculation on the quantity/items in the cart at the time of checkout. 1 to 5 items will add a $10.00 fee to the order total. 6 to 20 items will add a $5.00 fee to the order total. And 21 or more items is free.

Note that the unit specified in the last field o the last tier is ignored and automatically set to infinite count. As in X or more

7. Global Minimum Shipping

Turn this on to apply a shipping total which will be applied automatically if calculated shipping total is less than the amount specified in the field below. Note that this value will override any calculated shipping shipping value if it is less than this amount.

8. Minimum Shipping Amount

This is the minimum price available for shipping. Links to Global Minimum Shipping setting above. This field is only seen if “Yes” is selected for option number 7.
