PayPal Express Checkout Configuration Settings

1. Title

The title/caption for the PayPal Express Checkout payment method/gateway as it will display throughout the plugin to both your clients/customers on the front-end and in the back-end as well. You can put any identifiable string in here that you want to use for it.

2, 3 & 4. User ID, Password & Signature

PayPal Express Checkout uses the Classic API credentials, same as PayPal Pro for example. You can obtain the user ID, password and signature in your PayPal profile.

Login to your PayPal account and go to “Profile“. Then navigate to “Request API Credentials” under the “Account Information” heading. You will now be given two options. Choose “Option 1 – PayPal API” and click the “Setup PayPal API credentials & permissions” link. On the next page, click the “View API Signature” link on the right.

You will then be presented with your API Username which is the user ID, the API Password which is the password and the signature. Copy these three values respectively over to the plugin’s configuration fields and then save the settings.

5. Mode

The mode will reflect which PayPal account you are using. If you are using a real/live PayPal account, set this to live. If you are using a Sandbox PayPal account, set this to Sandbox at all times. Setting the wrong mode will result in errors and problems.

6. Page Style

The page style setting gives you the ability to use custom page styles. It is useful when you are using the same PayPal account for multiple shops/stores to make each one look unique individually.

You can configure custom page styles in your PayPal profile by going to “Profile” then clicking on “Custom Page Styles” under “Hosted payment settings” heading at the bottom.

To use a custom page style, put it’s title/name into this field as it is in your PayPal profile. The default page style title/name is “PayPal“.
